Megan is a license-eligible mental health counselor providing virtual therapy sessions to clients in Massachusetts through Brighter Life Therapy PLLC. Megan specializes in trauma, attachment, and disordered eating but she works with a variety of other concerns including anxiety, depression, self-esteem, identity exploration, perfectionism, and relationship concerns.
Megan received a Master’s Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology both from the Ohio State University. Megan was trained in Somatic Experiencing and studied the NeuroAffective Relational Model (NARM) which increase nervous system regulation and support a sense of safety and connection. These modalities support Megan’s belief that each client has the innate ability to heal and build resiliency within themselves, and that her role is to provide support along that journey. In addition, Megan draws on traditional psychotherapy modalities such as dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), and internal family systems (IFS).
Megan uses a trauma-informed approach, which means that each client decides what they share when they share it, and how much of it they want to share at any given time. As a trauma-informed therapist, her goal is not only to facilitate the healing of trauma but also to acknowledge the trauma that occurs from systemic oppression. Megan actively works to provide a nonjudgmental, comfortable presence for all clients, advocate for social justice, and continuously learn how to be a better ally.
In her free time, Megan enjoys running, hiking, practicing yoga, making art, and spending time with friends. Megan values self-care and enjoyment and wants to encourage others to find the activities and relationships that make them feel their best.
