My Approach:
Many people view therapy as a place to go to *feel* better. My first aim is to help you *live* better–which will likely enable you to feel more fulfilled. Clients describe me as compassionate, caring, and challenging. My approach combines my knowledge of psychological theories and techniques with my energetic and interactive style. Working together, we will identify the ways in which your unproductive thought, emotional, and behavioral patterns prevent you from living a life consistent with your values and from achieving your goals. Common questions I ask to help guide the work are “Is what you are doing now working for you? What makes life meaningful for you? Are you willing to tolerate discomfort in order to live more consistently with your values and achieve your goals?” These can be daunting questions and I enjoy helping clients work through them to identify what, if anything, they want to change. Then I provide the techniques, skills, learning opportunities, and support to help you make these changes.
My Education and Training:
I earned my undergraduate degree from Haverford College and my MA and PhD degrees in Clinical Psychology from Suffolk University. I completed my internship at Tewksbury State Hospital and my postdoctoral training at Harvard Vanguard Medical Associates (Clinical) and VA Boston National Center for PTSD (Research). I have also trained at Emerson College Counseling Services, Edith Nourse Rogers VA Memorial Hospital, and the May Institute. Prior to joining Brighter Life Therapy, I worked as a Staff Psychologist at Beacon Therapy Group and the Brookline Center for Community.
Areas of Expertise:
The depth and breadth of my training enables me to treat a wide range of clientele with diverse presenting concerns. I have particular expertise working with individuals struggling with anxiety, depression, obsessions and compulsions, procrastination, relationship and communication difficulties, identity development/self-esteem, and identification of personal values. I have also published on these topics.
Insurance and payment:

I am an in-network provider for BCBS, Aetna, and Aetna Student Health. I also accept private pay and am happy to provide statements for reimbursement for clients with other insurance plans.

Let’s discuss how I can be of help to you.
